Griesser sun protection in the award-winning "Quartier Général" project in Paris, Building complex with office space, apartments and commercial space
In Paris' 10th arrondissement, the "QG – Quartier Général" building complex on Rue Lafayette has been carefully developed. The project, planned by DATA architects & THINK TANK architecture, combines office space, social housing and commercial space around a central courtyard while preserving most of the existing building fabric. The minimal intervention approach strengthens the identity of the faubourg and at the same time creates contemporary comfort of use.
An important component of this concept is the external textile sun protection from Griesser. With the Solozip and Soloscreen façade awnings, two systems were used that react specifically to different uses and façade situations. While Solozip ensures high wind stability, effective glare protection and controlled use of daylight in the more exposed areas of the office space, Soloscreen takes on a lighter, flexible role in the living and courtyard-facing areas and supports a pleasant indoor climate without visual dominance.
In this way, Griesser's sun shading system makes a significant contribution to improving thermal comfort and reducing energy consumption – and at the same time fits naturally into the overall architectural picture. The interplay of existing buildings, precise interventions and integrated technology was awarded the Équerre d'Argent in the "Lieux d'Activités" category 2024, among other awards.
In order to sustainably implement the minimal-interventional approach in the award-winning project in the field of sun protection, the architects DATA architects & THINK TANK architecture counted on Griesser's expertise: "When renovating the 206 Lafayette building, we wanted to find a solution that was suitable for every use and every façade situation. Griesser's sun protection systems enabled us to take a very differentiated approach – from high-wind-resistant sun protection solutions for the work areas to lighter and more flexible ones for the living spaces. This precision is perfectly in line with our approach of minimal intervention," says Marine DE LA GUERRANDE, partner at THINK TANK architecture.
